History of North Wales MTB

Mountain biking is long established in North Wales offering some of the UK's premier purpose built forestry centres including Coed Y Brenin near Dolgellau and Gwyder Forest Bewts Y Coed and Coed Llandegla.

Beddgelert Forest situated just behind Snowdon itself, was also once the host to one of the original UK mountain bike races back in the early 1990's, which was famous for having the longest descent in the country. For the more adventurous rider the Llanberis Path up Snowdon or the Pony Track up Cadair Idris offers proper mountain riding opportunities. North Wales is also synonymous with Enduro racing with the Meridia 100km event held across the Clywidian Hills around Ruthin and the Dyfi Enduro held in the Dyfi Forest Machynlleth. And this year (2005) the club hosted the Welsh MTB XC champs at Coed Llandegla.

The club promotes mountain biking in North Wales and has strong links with the Welsh XC racing scene and other North Wales mountain biking clubs.
